Volunteering at the Stocking Store

Come help us at the Stocking Store with all of the different jobs that need to be done during our operating hours. We especially need help in November when we stuff the stockings.

Since we send out roughly 10,000 stockings a year, we need about the same amount of every item on our Project Shopping List to go into the stockings, so please consider bringing some of the needed items with you. Even consider organizing a collection drive at your school, church, synagogue, scout troop, service club, or workplace to collect items we need. This is the BEST way to help us. Thank you for holding a collection drive.

If you are volunteering as a group, please note that groups larger than six people must pre-register with us before coming in to help (see below for details). Also, there are requirements for chaperones when bringing in any youth group. All youth groups, i.e. Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and student groups need chaperones as outlined below.

Guidelines for youth group chaperones:
  • 2nd through 6th graders must provide one adult chaperone for every two students
  • 7th and 8th graders must provide one adult chaperone for every four students
  • Students in high school or older can come without supervision
Finally, please no youth groups younger than 2nd grade due to safety concerns. Thank you for your understanding. Prior to starting the stuffing process (please refer to our calendar), we would like to invite our younger volunteers (under 2nd grade) to come over to see the Stocking Store. When they drop off their contributions, we will be so glad to show them the Stocking Store and how their donations fit into what we all are doing.

Group Registration
Small Groups:   One Person to Six People
No pre-registration is required. Simply stop by the Stocking Store anytime that we are open to work with us.



Large Groups:   Seven to Thirty People
Thank you for holding a collection drive for items that we send to our troops prior to coming to the store. Please follow the link below to request a date when you would like to bring your group in to help us. We require pre-registration because we want to make sure that other large groups are not scheduled at the same time. Our Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and student groups in 2nd grade and above need to schedule their volunteer time also. (Please refer to our guidelines for chaperoning above when registering a youth group) Note: this volunteer opportunity is not appropriate for youth groups younger than 2nd grade. Thank you for your understanding.
